The road leading to the mountains takes you through hamlets in the Monti Sibillini and Monti della Laga, both National Parks offering natural beauty, history, legends and traditions as well as typical products like wine, sheep cheeses (pecorino), wild mushrooms and truffles.
The highest peak of the Sibillini mountains is Mount Vettore (2746 m) and among the many beautiful sites are the "Lago di Pilato", a glacier lake at 1940 m and the Infernaccio Gorge as well as the villages of Sarnano, San Ginesio, Amandola, Arquata del Tronto, Montefortino, Montegallo and Montemonaco.
In the range of the "Monti della Laga" located on the border between Abruzzo and Lazio lie the historical villages of Acquasanta Terme and Arquata, the river Tronto, travertine caves, waterfalls, spas and chestnut woods.
